We were priviledged to be part of the smalltown love that only comes in a place like Berea, Kentucky. During our time there, we were able to know the Kennedy family. Sara Elizabeth Kennedy was a student at Berea Community High School while my husband Mike, taught and coached there. Much too early in her beautiful life, Sara was faced with unimaginable struggle when she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. On March 23, 2005 she was welcomed into God's embrace in heaven. In order to celebrate her life, SaraCare was formed by her parents and loved ones. The funds raised by this amazing organization have established two scholarships at the local high schools, purchased TV/DVD for all the rooms on Four West of the Children's Hospital, provided all of the Kentucky Childrens Hospital's rooms with televisions, and provided televisions for the Outpatient rooms and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit rooms at Kentucky Childrens Hospital. All this was accomplished, in addition to touching many lives, including mine.
